ANNOUNCER: Now entering Brains On! headquarters.
[BEEP, WHOOSHING]
MOLLY BLOOM: Hi, Smarty pals. Guess what? Last night, I got bitten by a bug. No, not a mosquito or a spider. No, not an earwig, either. I got bitten by the poetry bug.
I just have a ravenous appetite for rhyme. I'm wild for wordplay. I woke up and scribbled down some verses. And now, I'm going to read them to my adoring fans, Marc Sanchez and Sanden Totten.
SANDEN TOTTEN: Molly, I thought you said you had a present for me.
MARC SANCHEZ: And don't get me wrong. We are your adoring fans. But I was definitely told that we were having sandwiches.
MOLLY BLOOM: Well, great news. As a present for you both, I have sandwiched together my love of poetry with my passion for game shows to create the Mystery Animal Poetry Slam challenge!
SANDEN TOTTEN: Ooh, that does sound exciting.
MARC SANCHEZ: So there's no actual sandwiches?
SANDEN TOTTEN: Here, Marc. Have a peanut butter and pickle sandwich. I always have a couple with me.
MARC SANCHEZ: [MUNCHING] Hmm. Thanks, Sanden. OK, Molly, rhyme time.
MOLLY BLOOM: Excellent. Here's how it will work. I have written poems from the point of view of four different animals introducing themselves to you through rhyming clues. Your challenge is to guess the animal. Are you ready?
SANDEN TOTTEN: Ready, Freddy.
MARC SANCHEZ: Yeah.
MOLLY BLOOM: My first poem/quiz question is for you, Sanden. [CLEARS THROAT]
A hunter with beautiful fur,
Like a house cat, but bigger, I purr,
And all of my types are gifted with stripes,
As disguised from the prey, I prefer.
SANDEN TOTTEN: Oh, easy. This cat is big, ferocious, orange, with black stripes. And it's a tiger.
[SUCCESS CHIME]
MOLLY BLOOM: Oh, very, very good. All right, Marc, are you ready for your first challenge?
MARC SANCHEZ: Yes, I am ready.
MOLLY BLOOM: OK, here it is.
I swim like a torpedo through the waves,
And regally, I sprawl upon the shore,
My bite is feared by fishes that I crave,
But it's my bark that people notice more.
MARC SANCHEZ: Hmm. I'm going to read that to myself out loud.
I swim like a torpedo through the waves,
And regally, I sprawl upon the shore,
My bite is feared by fishes that I crave,
But it's my bark that people notice more.
I'm going to say that would be a large animal that goes onto the beach, something like a sea lion or a walrus?
[ERROR BUZZ]
Or elephant seal.
[ERROR BUZZ]
MOLLY BLOOM: Maybe your first guess. What was your first guess?
MARC SANCHEZ: Sea lion.
[SUCCESS CHIME]
MOLLY BLOOM: Yeah! Good job! Sanden, are you ready for your second poem?
SANDEN TOTTEN: My gut says, bring it on.
MOLLY BLOOM: OK.
I gather together with birds of a feather,
But no one has plumage as perfect as mine,
My tail is perfection from every direction,
I love my reflection, this bird is divine.
SANDEN TOTTEN: Oh, this is easy. One of my favorite animals, the peacock.
[SUCCESS CHIME]
I really relate to its showy nature.
MOLLY BLOOM: [CHUCKLES] Very good. Wow, you are so wonderful, both of you, an excellent audience. OK, here's my last poem for Marc.
Don't step too close to me while I am snoozing in the sun,
I will issue you a warning, but you'll only get the one
If you ignore the racket that is coming from my tail,
I might be forced to bite you, and my venom will prevail.
MARC SANCHEZ: This is making me nervous. I don't know what I'm about to step on. But I think it might be a rattlesnake.
[SUCCESS CHIME]
MOLLY BLOOM: Correct again. Wow, you two are wonderful audience members and guessers. Well done.
SANDEN TOTTEN: Wow, Molly, these poems were really fun. I do feel like you gave me a gift.
MOLLY BLOOM: Aw, thanks, buddy. I think this really helped me get that poetry bug out of my system. I mean, if there were more rhymes, I guess that I missed them.
MARC SANCHEZ: A nugget of wisdom. Gah, Molly, your poetry bug got me!
SANDEN TOTTEN: Oh, I know what'll help. Anybody want an orange?
